songs from the weekend of Dec. 4/5, 2010

This past weekend was a blast!  We had the pleasure of having the Target Dayton Choir join our band to lead the music in our gatherings.  If you’re not familiar with Target Dayton, check out their website and be blessed by their ministry.  Basically, they are a church for the homeless and poor in inner-city Dayton.  So, their choir is made up of people who are poor, desperate, homeless, trying to overcome addiction, ex-convicts, etc.  BUT, through Target Dayton, these people have seen the light of Christ and are slowly but surely changing into His image.  So, when they sing…they really sing! They sing because they know that Christ is all they have; the only foundation they can depend on.  I’m telling you, it’s an unbelievable blessing to share in ministry with them – they blessed our band so much and we can’t wait to have them back!

Here are the songs we did with the band & choir together:

  1. Joy to the World (Unspeakable Joy) written by Handel,Watts, Tomlin, & Cash – we did Chris Tomlin’s version of this song which was rockin’ and anthemic.
  2. O Come All Ye Faithful written by John Francis Wade – one of our team leaders, Joe, came up with a very cool groove for this song.  It sounded like a mix of the Jackson 5 and Maroon 5.  It was a lot of fun!
  3. He Has Come to Us written by our own Phil Wing – doing this one with the choir was very cool. We still played it very ambient, but the choir singing on the choruses just made it feel so intense.

Here are the songs the choir did on their own:

  1. Hallelujah You’re Worthy by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir
  2. I’ll Give Him My Heart written by Cymbala & Francois
  3. I’m Amazed written by Carol Cymbala
